Mobile Climbing Wall

As part of its long-range strategic plan, the North Florida Council is making progress in its efforts to grow awareness of Scouting in the community, engage families about the excitement Scouting has to offer and sign up new youth.

Starting in October 2015, the North Florida Council will debut a new mobile climbing wall and a wrapped and detailed van at community events across the 17-county area.

Providing leadership to this effort, as an Outdoor Marketing Specialist, please welcome to the North Florida Council team, Eagle Scout and past Camp Shands staffer, Mr. Michael Filz.

Michael is hard at work scheduling community events where he will set up the wall and attract new families. For events that may be in your part of the Council, he will be calling on some local Troops to help with specific duties related to the wall. This will give Troops that help great access to new families that may want to join Scouting.

If your Troop would like to help Michael at future events or if you have community events to suggest, please contact him at michael.filz@scouting.org

(Please note: the wall, the van and Michael are Board-directed to be at community events to act as an outreach. The wall is currently not available for Scout events, such as Cub Family Campouts or Camporees.)

BSA Racing $3000 Free Giveaway

Dear fellow Scouters, Scouts and Parents,

One of our primary goals as the Boy Scouts of America NASCAR race team is to always look for ways to benefit Scouting.

One of our Boy Scouts of America Racing partners, FORT KNOX Safes, has agreed to offer a $3,000 gun safe, race tickets and VIP Pit passes to the Homestead-Miami NASCAR race for a lucky Scout family. Four (4) family members will be able to have a behind-the-scences experience and meet and greet BSA NASCAR driver, Scott Lagasse, Jr.

Fort Knox has created a drawing for all Scouting families to enter. The only step to enter is to go to the Fort Knox Scout Entry Webpage at www.ftknox.com/nascarb and enter with your email address. (Only 1 entry per email address, but multiple emails from the same family is permitted). It is that simple! No strings attached. The contest entry runs from today to October 15, 2015. The email address used to enter will be used to contact the winner. The winner will be contacted by October 31, 2015.
