SEPTEMBER 2015 ISSUE
Popcorn = Program

Parents and Leaders -

Adventure. Character. Memories.

These are all things we are building together through Scouting. Whether it's having fun in a Den meeting, providing service on a Troop outing, kayaking at the St. Johns River Base or rappelling at Camp Shands, together, we are building adventure every day.

With the new school year underway, I'm sure your unit is back in action with a calendar full of events and a budget to support. If you're taking advantage of the popcorn campaign as the tool to feed your unit budget, I'm hoping your sale is off to a good start and you achieve your goals!

My two sons are certainly out selling popcorn. They have a goal to earn their own way in Scouting and I'm happy about the skills it's teaching them.

They also have a goal to join the "Fill It Up Club". If you haven't heard, every Scout who fills up an order form will earn an invitation to a free Jacksonville University basketball game, as well as, a special patch. On top of that, every Scout who fills up a form is entered into a drawing. For 7 weeks, one lucky winner wins this drone! During the 8th week, one lucky winner wins a Go Pro!

Once your Scout has filled up a form, enter his information at http://www.nfcscouting.org/popcorn. You can enter every time a form is filled up!

My boys are also working to earn prizes, especially the Minecraft-themed patch. Don't forget, online sales go towards prizes too. You can help your Scout sell online by setting up an account at www.trails-end.com. It's a great way to engage friends and family who don't live locally.

Lastly, as a parent, I'm happy that my Pack has incentives too. If the boys sell a certain amount of popcorn, their dues are covered for the year - and if they sell even more - their big event to Busch Gardens is paid for.

Popcorn can really - program.

If you have any questions or anything else, I'm always more than happy to discuss! Reach out any time.

Thank you for being a builder! A builder of adventure, character and memories!

Sincerely,
Patrick Linfors
